How to maintain your rug to keep it in good condition?

Like the other elements of your interior, your round or rectangular rug must be well maintained to stay beautiful and in good condition. The first thing to do is to vacuum your living room rug or kitchen rug regularly. Like your floors, your carpets are exposed to dust, falling crumbs, dust mites, and more. It is therefore essential to clean them like the rest of the house. Depending on its exposure to light, your Berber or shaggy rug may discolor slightly in places. The trick? Change it once or twice a year.

If you have a shag rug on which furniture is placed, the footprints may become embedded in it. To make it disappear, you can use an ice cube. Let it melt on the area and once the fibers are well soaked, straighten them so that they return to their original shapes. To keep their color and stay healthy, you need to wash your carpets every three months or so. If your carpet is cotton, you can use Marseille soap to apply with a brush. For a wool carpet, black soap or baking soda are preferred. In the case of a jute or leather rug, we recommend having it cleaned by a specialist and taking it to the dry cleaners.
