It is the "last best-selling physical single in France" (500,000 copies). Its German-accented singer was named Helmut Fritz, “a Tagada strawberry who would have merged with an Austrian curtain”. Thirteen years later, no one knows him anymore, so Éric Greff does what all has-beens do: publish a book. He recounts how he imagined Helmut while watching Karl Lagerfeld on television, the surprise of instant success, the absurd fame, and the fall so quickly. In a caustic style, he describes a thoroughly cynical recording industry, which throws him around as a gag and dismisses him with contempt.
