Emmanuel Macron too spending?L'Obs has peeled the Elysée's accounts since the start of its mandate.If the head of state, from the start, wanted to show white leg, it nevertheless results that the expenses have gone significantly since his arrival.Thus, in 2018, the charges of the presidential palace increased by 7 %.A hole of 5.7 million in the funds that the president had to fill by drawing in the reserves left by François Hollande.

For 2019, it is already 2.5 million euros that Emmanuel Macron will have to find.While the growls of the French against the advantages perceived by the parliamentarians continues to rise, the expenses of Emmanuel Macron are likely to be poorly digested.For its part, the Élysée is justified by ensuring that these expenses are necessary."We work more, we travel more, we receive more, and above all we invest for the future by soliciting our own funds," explains the new director of communication, Joseph Zimet.

18 new cars

Among the exponential expenses identified by L'Obs: the car fleet.In 2018, 89.669 euros additional were spent for the purchase of new cars.If the Élysée claims to have dropped standing by opting for Peugeot 308 instead of 508, the number of vehicles has increased well, going from 64 under Holland to 82 under Macron.Another important expenses: food costs.The invoice is this time higher by 500.Euros.The presidential palace explains this time to have organized many more work meals and cites in particular on November 21, 2018 in the evening, where the head of state had invited 2.000 local elected officials at the Élysée, in the midst of "yellow vests" crisis.Regarding cleaning costs, they have also exploded since Macron's arrival at the Élysée, notes L'Obs.To make the 13 shine.271 square meters of surface, the addition is rather very salty and amounts to 680.Euros, selon la présidence.

A carpet at 300.Euros

Added to this are the work undertaken in the palace.The village village hall.Its renovation which lasted five months weighed heavily in finances, in particular the new red and gold carpet which itself cost no less than 300.Euros.Total invoice: half a million euros that the Élysée hoped to fill with the sales of objects derived from the official shop of the castle.Unfortunately, the recipes have only reached 100.Euros entre septembre 2018 et septembre 2019, souligne L'Obs.

Regarding personnel expenses, there too, the invoice is high.The Élysée called an external service provider: Eurogroup Consulting, which received, in 2018, 259.773 euros.The presidency nevertheless ensures that this expense post should drop slightly in 2019.

As the Obs points out, Emmanuel Macron would therefore spend much more than his predecessor François Hollande and almost as much as Nicolas Sarkozy.
