The company Toiles de Mayenne, established since 1806 in the heart of the small town of Fontaine-Daniel, is well known to the people of Mayenne. However, few have had the chance to visit its weaving or upholstery workshops. For three days, on October 21, 22 and 23, the factory, which has 90 employees, will be discovered. The enthusiasm was such that registrations are closed.

If the history of Toiles de Mayenne is inseparable from that of the village of Fontaine-Daniel, it is indeed a visit of the company and a discovery of its know-how that is proposed.

We will follow the path of the fabric, starting with the weaving workshop, then the cutting and finally the tailor-made workshops.

Indeed, at Toiles de Mayenne, all the stages in the creation of curtains, cushions, sofas and even poufs are carried out on site. "Only the structures of the sofas are made by French partners", explains Clotilde Boutrolle, creative director and partner.

Alongside the visits set up in the company, Toiles de Mayenne will be offering its traditional annual fabric sale on Thursday 21 and Friday 22 October, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday 23 October from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. It will take place on the company's two sites in Fontaine-Daniel, with the cut fabric downstairs (near the abbey), and the cushions, curtains and sofas in the shop. This destocking is an opportunity for the company to make room in its premises.

After meticulous cutting, the seamstresses can carry out bespoke projects for customers in Mayenne or Paris. Eyelet or gathered curtains, net curtains, blinds, there is something for everyone.

Tailor-made projects

Indeed, Toiles de Mayenne has had its own network of stores since 1968, which allows it to advise customers and make the best technical choice for their decoration project. A boutique is nestled in the heart of Fontaine-Daniel and a dozen others are located in the Paris region. Curtains, net curtains, cushions can thus be ordered in store before being made according to the wishes of customers in the workshops of the Mayenne factory. The shops also offer a range of decoration products ready to take away.

An upholstery workshop can also restore old armchairs, sofas and poufs. “We can work with foam or traditionally with horsehair. The workshop is working very well. We have a lot of requests from Parisian customers,” says Virginie, design coordinator, while presenting the different restoration methods.
